WEST CHESTER — Featuring rooftop dining later this summer, while serving craft cocktails and beers and highlighting an open kitchen, Serum Kitchen & Taphouse at 142 E. Market St. is now open.
Forty-five employees will host diners who enjoy high-end cocktails and everything from New York strip steak, arctic char, pub burgers, double pork chops and fried chicken. Prices for main dishes will run from $18 to $38.
The new bar and restaurant will feature five beers brewed from co-owned Imprint Beer Co., in Montgomery County.
Husband and wife team Ryan and Lisa Diehl own the new 4,000-square-foot eatery with 150 seats inside in the main brick-lined dining room and 50 seats on the roof. The couple has owned Imprint Beer Co., a brewery and retro arcade in Montco, for six years. Both came from the corporate world and wanted to try something different.
“We want to bring a lot of beer from our craft beer friends around the country,” Ryan Diehl said. “We prepare amazing food from a scratch kitchen and have a full bar specializing in classic and innovative cocktails and craft beers.
“We focus on elevated details within an approachable, casual dining experience.”
The beer menu will include many lagers, hazy IPAS, sours and stouts from the country’s best craft breweries.
The couple is focusing on the open kitchen that can be viewed from almost every seat, amid those exposed brick walls.
“You are getting everything out and into the open,” Ryan Diehl said.
Lisa Diehl said she is having fun.
“When we opened the brewery (Imprint) we met a lot of fun people — the community was enjoyable,” she said. “We wanted to expand into a full experience and that’s why we’re opening the restaurant.”
With a daughter who attended West Chester University, the couple picked the borough because of its many great places to eat and drink, according to Ryan Diehl.
Serum Kitchen & Taphouse is open Tuesdays through Sundays. Hours: Tuesday through Thursday: noon to 11 p.m.; Friday: noon to midnight; Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays; Saturday: 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The upcoming rooftop deck will feature table service and live music, with a relaxing outdoor vibe.
